A man of the tribe of Gad whose son Eliasaph was leader of the Gadites during Israel's wilderness wanderings.
☩Identity
Deuel was the father of Eliasaph, who served as 'captain' or leader of the tribe of Gad during the exodus. His son led the Gadites in the wilderness census and participated in the dedication offerings for the tabernacle. The name is also written 'Reuel' in some manuscripts through scribal confusion of the Hebrew letters daleth and resh.
