Summary

Disorder and disarray, most notably the confusion of tongues at Babel when God disrupted human language to scatter the nations.

Confusion of Tongues

When mankind gathered to build a tower reaching to heaven, God confused their language so they could not understand one another. This resulted in the scattering of peoples across the earth and the origin of different languages. The city was called Babel because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth.
