Dough

/doh/

Summary

Bread mixture before baking, referenced in Scripture regarding the Passover, firstfruits offerings, and as a spiritual metaphor.

Biblical References

Israel departed Egypt so hastily that their dough had not yet risen, carrying it unleavened in their kneading troughs. The law required offering the first of the dough as a heave offering. Paul uses dough as a metaphor: 'A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump,' warning against tolerating sin.
