Judgments(penalty)
Summary
Divine pronouncements, legal decisions, or acts of justice; in Scripture referring both to God's laws and statutes as well as His punitive or redemptive acts in history.
☩Divine Judgments
The 'judgments' of God refer both to His revealed laws and ordinances (Psalm 19:9; 119:7, 62, 106) and to His acts of justice executed upon nations or individuals. Major divine judgments include the Flood, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the plagues of Egypt, and the exile of Israel. These judgments demonstrate God's righteousness and His opposition to sin (Romans 1:18; 2:2-11).
☩Future Judgment
Scripture foretells a final judgment when all humanity will stand before God (Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:11-15). This will include judgment of believers' works at the judgment seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10) and the final judgment of the wicked at the Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11-15). God's judgments are described as true and righteous altogether (Revelation 16:7; 19:2).
