A common Israelite name meaning 'remembered,' borne by at least eleven men in the Old Testament including Levites, warriors, and officials.

Notable Bearers

The most prominent Zichri was an Ephraimite warrior who during Pekah's invasion of Judah slew Maaseiah the king's son, Azrikam the governor of the palace, and Elkanah who was second to the king. Other notable bearers include a son of Izhar the Kohathite, several Benjamites in the genealogies, and a father of Elishaphat who helped Jehoiada overthrow Athaliah.
