Summary
Matri was the head of a Benjamite family to which King Saul belonged, mentioned when Saul was selected by lot to be Israel's first king.
☩Saul's Selection
When Samuel assembled all Israel at Mizpeh to select their first king, the tribe of Benjamin was chosen by lot, then the family of Matri was selected, and finally Saul the son of Kish was identified as God's chosen ruler. Though Saul had hidden himself among the baggage, he was found and presented to the people, standing head and shoulders above everyone else.
