The master or chief of the eunuchs of King Nebuchadnezzar who was in charge of training Daniel and his companions.

Daniel's Overseer

When Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem, he ordered Ashpenaz to select promising young men from the royal family and nobility of Judah for three years of training in Babylonian language and literature. Ashpenaz was favorable to Daniel and allowed him to abstain from the king's food and wine. God gave Daniel favor in Ashpenaz's sight, though the official expressed concern about disobeying the king's orders.
