Domestic Baking

In ancient Israel, baking was typically done by the women of each household. When Abraham entertained the three visitors, he called to Sarah to prepare cakes upon the hearth. Samuel warned that a king would take their daughters to be bakers.

Pharaoh's Chief Baker

The most notable biblical baker was the chief baker of Egypt, who was imprisoned alongside the chief cupbearer. Joseph interpreted his dream, predicting his execution within three days—a prophecy that proved true when Pharaoh restored the cupbearer but hanged the baker.
