Well of the Living One who sees me

Summary

A well in the wilderness where Hagar encountered the angel of the Lord, and where Isaac later dwelt.

Hagar's Encounter

When Hagar fled from Sarai into the wilderness, she stopped at a spring on the way to Shur. There the angel of the Lord found her and promised that her son Ishmael would become a great nation. Hagar named the place 'Beer-lahai-roi,' meaning 'well of the Living One who sees me,' for she exclaimed, 'Thou God seest me.'
