Summary

Hezir was the name of two men: the head of the seventeenth course of priests in David's organization, and a chief who sealed Nehemiah's covenant.

Priestly Course

Hezir headed the seventeenth of the twenty-four priestly courses established by David for Temple service. These courses rotated through the year, each serving for a week at a time. The "sons of Hezir" would have continued to serve in this rotation for centuries.
