Eliphal
אֱלִיפַל/ee-LY-fal/
“God has judged”
Summary
A son of Ur and one of David's famous guard, apparently the same as Eliphelet in a parallel passage though the names are confused in transmission.
☩David's Warrior
Eliphal son of Ur was one of David's famous guard of mighty men. In the parallel passage in 2 Samuel 23:34, he appears to be called 'Eliphelet, the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite,' but the names are considerably confused in transmission between the two lists. The name means 'God has judged' or 'God is his judge.'
