Ahasbai the Maacathite was the father of Eliphelet, who served among David's elite soldiers. He was either a native of Abel-beth-maacah in northern Israel or, more probably, of Maacah in Syria. In the parallel list in Chronicles, his name appears differently as Ur, indicating textual corruption in one or both passages.
