Bezalel

בְּצַלְאֵל/BEZ-uh-lel/

Summary

The divinely gifted craftsman who supervised the construction of the tabernacle and its furnishings.

Divine Appointment

God called Bezalel by name and filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all manner of workmanship. He was to devise artistic designs and work in gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood. Oholiab of Dan was appointed as his assistant.

The Work

Bezalel made the ark of the covenant, the mercy seat, the table for showbread, the lampstand, the altars, and all the furnishings of the tabernacle according to the pattern God showed Moses.
