Summary

Protective parapets required on flat rooftops to prevent falls, and defensive structures on city walls.

Rooftop Safety

The Mosaic law required that when building a house, the owner must make a parapet or railing around the flat roof to prevent anyone from falling, thus avoiding bloodguilt.

City Wall Defenses

Battlements also refers to the defensive structures on city walls, with openings through which defenders could shoot arrows while remaining protected. God commanded judgment against Jerusalem's walls and battlements.
