צִיץ/ZIZ/

Flower or cliff

Summary

A pass or ascent by which a coalition army of Moabites, Ammonites, and Edomites came up against King Jehoshaphat.

Location

The ascent of Ziz was a cliff or steep pass leading up from the western shore of the Dead Sea into the hill country of Judah. By this route the enemy coalition advanced toward Jerusalem, camping at En-gedi before ascending. Jehoshaphat was told they would come up by this pass, and he met them with praise and worship, after which God caused the enemy forces to destroy one another.
