גּוּר בַּעַל/goor-BAY-uhl/

Dwelling of Baal

Summary

A place inhabited by Arabians against whom King Uzziah of Judah warred successfully.

Uzziah's Campaign

When God prospered King Uzziah, he extended Judah's power by military conquest. Among his victories was a campaign against the Arabians who dwelt in Gur-baal and against the Meunites. The location of Gur-baal is uncertain, but it was evidently in the desert region south or southeast of Judah.
