Chidon
כִּידוֹן/KY-don/
“A dart or javelin”
Summary
The threshing floor where Uzzah was struck dead for touching the ark, called Nachon's threshing floor in 2 Samuel.
☩The Incident
Chidon is the name given in 1 Chronicles 13:9 to the threshing floor where the accident to the ark occurred during its transport from Kirjath-jearim to Jerusalem. When the oxen stumbled, Uzzah put forth his hand to steady the ark and was struck dead by God. Because of this the place was afterwards known as Perez-uzzah ('the breaking forth upon Uzzah'). In the parallel account in 2 Samuel 6:6, the location is called Nachon's threshing floor. Whether these were two distinct names for the same spot, or one is a corruption of the other, remains uncertain.
