Chesalon was one of the landmarks on the western part of the north boundary of Judah, situated on the shoulder of Mount Jearim (the 'Mount of Forests'). It was the next landmark to Bethshemesh in the boundary description. In the fourth century it was described as 'a very large village' near Jerusalem.
