Identity and Role

Tahpenes was the queen of Egypt during the time when Hadad the Edomite fled from David's conquest. The Pharaoh gave Hadad the sister of Queen Tahpenes as wife. Tahpenes herself served as foster-mother to Hadad's son Genubath, weaning him in Pharaoh's house among the royal children.
