Name and Significance

The name Shenazar appears to be of Babylonian origin, suggesting the influence of the captivity environment on the naming of Jeconiah's children. Some have connected it to the Babylonian name Sin-usur or Shenazzar. His place in the royal genealogy demonstrates the continuation of David's line even during exile.
