Ozem

/OH-zem/

Summary

Ozem was the name of two men in the Old Testament: a son of Jesse and a descendant of Judah through Jerahmeel.

Son of Jesse

Ozem was the sixth son of Jesse and an older brother of David. He appears in the genealogies of 1 Chronicles among the sons Jesse had in Bethlehem. Like his brothers, Ozem would have been among those Jesse presented before Samuel when the prophet came to anoint a king from among Jesse's sons, though David the youngest was God's choice.
