Josabad (more properly Jozabad) appears in 1 Chronicles 12:4 as one of the warriors from Benjamin who defected to David while he was a fugitive at Ziklag. Though from Saul's own tribe, these men recognized God's hand upon David and joined his cause. They were skilled archers who could use both right and left hands in slinging stones and shooting arrows. The name means 'whom Jehovah bestows,' reflecting parental gratitude for divine blessing.
