Jaanai was one of the chief Gadites resident in Bashan (1 Chronicles 5:12). He was listed among the principal men of the tribe along with Joel, Shapham, and others. The genealogy in 1 Chronicles 5 records the Gadite families during the reigns of Jotham of Judah and Jeroboam II of Israel.
