Hachaliah was the father of Nehemiah, the governor of Judah who led the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls after the Babylonian exile.

Hachaliah is mentioned only as the father of Nehemiah, the cupbearer to King Artaxerxes who became governor of Judah and led the effort to rebuild Jerusalem's walls. Nothing further is known of his life or background. The name appears in the opening verse of Nehemiah's memoirs and again in the list of those who sealed the covenant.
