“Garden or protection”
☩Civil Strife in Israel
When Zimri murdered King Elah and seized the throne, the army of Israel—then besieging Gibbethon—proclaimed their commander Omri as king. Zimri perished after only seven days, but the nation was divided: half the people followed Tibni son of Ginath, while half followed Omri. This civil war lasted several years until Tibni died, leaving Omri the undisputed king. Nothing further is known of Ginath himself; his name may mean 'garden' or 'protection.'
Key verses:1 Kings 16:21-22
