אֶשְׁבָּן/ESH-ban/
“Perhaps 'thoughtful' or 'intelligent'”
☩Horite Chief
Eshban was the second named of the four sons of Dishan (or Dishon), who was a son of Seir the Horite. The Horites were the aboriginal inhabitants of Mount Seir (Edom) before Esau's descendants dispossessed them and settled there. The genealogies of the Horite chiefs are preserved because of their importance in understanding the early history of the region that became Edom.
