“Antelope or pygarg”
☩Identity
Dishan was the seventh and youngest son of Seir the Horite, the aboriginal inhabitants of the land of Edom. He was the father of Uz and Aran, and became head of one of the Horite clans. The name appears alongside six brothers: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, and Ezer. The similar names Dishan and Dishon (his brother) both derive from a root possibly meaning 'antelope' or 'pygarg.'
