Azel was a descendant of Saul through Jonathan and Merib-baal (Mephibosheth). He had six sons: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. His brother was Eshek. The genealogy preserves the line of Saul's descendants.
