Artemas

/AR-te-mas/

Summary

A companion of Paul whom the apostle planned to send to Titus in Crete.

Paul's Co-worker

Artemas is mentioned only once in Scripture. Paul, writing to Titus in Crete, indicated he would send either Artemas or Tychicus to replace him, after which Titus should come to Paul at Nicopolis for the winter. That Paul considered Artemas suitable to take charge of the Cretan churches indicates he was a trusted and capable minister. Tradition suggests he later became bishop of Lystra.
