Arieh ('the lion') was apparently one of the bodyguard or officers who was slain along with King Pekahiah at Samaria when Pekah conspired against him. Some scholars interpret him as either an accomplice of Pekah in the murder or as one of Pekahiah's princes put to death with the king.
