Summary

The name of an Asherite and also of families who returned from Babylonian exile.

Biblical Figures

An Asherite named Arah was a son of Ulla and head of a family. His descendants were men of valor and heads of fathers' houses. Additionally, families called 'children of Arah' returned from Babylon: 775 according to Ezra, 652 according to Nehemiah. Arah's granddaughter Shecaniah was the wife of Tobiah the Ammonite who opposed Nehemiah.
