Identity

Amplias was a Christian at Rome to whom Paul sent personal greetings in his letter, describing him as one whom he particularly loved in the Lord. The Greek tradition identifies him as one of the seventy-two disciples who was ordained bishop of Odypopolis in Moesia by the apostle Andrew, and who suffered martyrdom. His festival is observed in the Greek calendar on October 31.
