Demetrius of Ephesus

The only silversmith mentioned by name in Scripture is Demetrius, a leading member of the silversmiths' guild at Ephesus. He and fellow craftsmen made silver shrines of Diana (Artemis), the city's patron goddess. When Paul's preaching threatened their trade, Demetrius stirred up a riot against the apostle.
