Sepharvites
/SEF-ar-vyts/
Summary
The inhabitants of Sepharvaim who were resettled in Samaria and brought their idolatrous worship practices with them.
☩Pagan Worship
The Sepharvites were among the foreign peoples transplanted to Samaria by the Assyrians after the deportation of the northern kingdom of Israel. They continued their horrific religious practices in their new land, burning their children in fire as offerings to their gods Adrammelech and Anammelech. This contributed to the syncretistic religion that later characterized the Samaritans.
