Promise to Seekers

Throughout Scripture, God promises to be found by those who seek Him with their whole heart. Moses assured Israel that if they sought the Lord with all their heart and soul, they would find Him. Chronicles records that 'the Lord is with you while you are with Him; if you seek Him, He will be found by you.' Jesus promised that those who ask will receive, those who seek will find, and to those who knock, the door will be opened.

Biblical Examples

Many notable biblical figures are commended as seekers of God. Asa, Jehoshaphat, Uzziah, Hezekiah, and Josiah among the kings 'sought the Lord' and prospered. David testified that he sought the Lord and was delivered from all his fears. Daniel set his face to seek God by prayer and fasting, receiving remarkable revelation. The Magi from the East diligently sought the newborn King of the Jews.

How to Seek God

True seeking involves earnest prayer, searching the Scriptures, and turning from sin. Isaiah urged seekers to 'seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.' The prophet Amos declared, 'Seek the Lord and live.' James promises that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.
