The Feast of Trumpets occurred on the first day of the seventh month (Tishri), beginning the civil new year in Israel. It was a day of solemn rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, and a holy convocation. Special burnt offerings and a sin offering were presented. This feast began the series of autumn festivals culminating in the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.
