Summary

A valley near Mareshah where King Asa of Judah defeated the massive Ethiopian army of Zerah.

Site of Battle

The valley of Zephathah was located near Mareshah in the Shephelah of Judah. Here King Asa faced an enormous Ethiopian army of a million men led by Zerah. Asa prayed for deliverance, and God gave Judah a complete victory, routing the Ethiopians who fled and were pursued as far as Gerar.
