Sirah
הַסִּרָה/SY-ruh/
“The Turning”
☩Location and Event
The well of Sirah was the spot from which Joab's messengers recalled Abner after he had departed from Hebron following negotiations with David. It was apparently on the northern road from Hebron. Joab, pretending to speak privately with Abner, treacherously murdered him there to avenge his brother Asahel. There is a spring and reservoir about a mile from Hebron called Ain Sarah which may preserve the ancient name.
