Summary

A place mentioned by Ezekiel as part of the ideal northern boundary of Israel, also called Berothai in 2 Samuel.

Location

Berothah (or Berothai) is mentioned as a city on the northern frontier of Israel, between Damascus and Hamath. It was also a city of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, from which David took great quantities of brass. Its exact site is uncertain, though some identify it with Bereitan (Brithen) south of Baalbec, while others suggest a connection with the modern city of Beirut.
