Berea

/beh-REE-uh/

Summary

A city of Macedonia where Paul found Jews who were more noble than those of Thessalonica because they searched the Scriptures daily.

Paul's Ministry

When persecution forced Paul and Silas to leave Thessalonica, they traveled to Berea, where they found the synagogue. The Berean Jews were commended for receiving the word with readiness of mind and examining the Scriptures daily to verify what Paul taught. Many believed, including prominent Greek women and men.
