Phoenician Island City

Arvad was a small rocky island off the Syrian coast, about two miles from the mainland and 125 miles north of Tyre. Its inhabitants, the Arvadites, descended from Canaan through Ham. They were renowned seafarers who supplied rowers and soldiers for Tyre's merchant fleet and defense. The city is mentioned in Ezekiel's lament over Tyre.
