/AP-ee-eye FOR-um/
Summary
A market town on the Appian Way, about 43 miles south of Rome, where Christians met Paul as he traveled to the capital.
☩Meeting Place for Paul
The Forum of Appius was a station on the famous Appian Way, the great road leading south from Rome. When Paul was being transported to Rome as a prisoner, the Christians there heard of his coming and traveled out to meet him. Some came as far as Appii Forum, while others met him at the Three Taverns, about ten miles closer to Rome. Seeing these brethren encouraged Paul greatly, and he thanked God and took courage.
