Semei
/SEM-ee-eye/
☩In Christ's Genealogy
Semei appears in Luke's genealogy as the son of Joseph (not the husband of Mary, but an earlier ancestor) and father of Mattathias. This places him in the post-exilic period of Jewish history, in the line leading from David through Nathan to Jesus. He may be the same person as Shemaiah, son of Shechaniah and father of Neariah in 1 Chronicles.
