Summary

Neariah was the name of two men in Chronicles: a descendant of David and a Simeonite military leader.

The Davidic Descendant

One Neariah was a son of Shemaiah and a descendant of King David through the royal line. He had three sons: Elioenai, Hezekiah, and Azrikam, continuing the Davidic lineage after the exile.

The Simeonite Captain

Another Neariah was a son of Ishi, of the tribe of Simeon. He was one of the captains who led five hundred Simeonites against the Amalekites at Mount Seir, destroying the remnant of Amalek and settling there.
