The name of two Hebrews who returned from the Babylonian exile: a Benjamite leader and a priestly chief.

The Benjamite

Sallai was one of the leaders of the sons of Benjamin who settled at Jerusalem with 928 tribesmen after the return from captivity. His name may mean 'lifted up' or 'basket-maker' in Hebrew.

Another Sallai was one of the chiefs of the priests who returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel. He is elsewhere called Sallu.
