Summary

Phuvah (also spelled Pua or Puah) was the second son of Issachar and the ancestor of the Punite clan.

Family and Descendants

Phuvah was the second of four sons of Issachar, listed among those who went down to Egypt with Jacob (Genesis 46:13). His descendants formed the Punite clan (Numbers 26:23). The name appears in different forms in Scripture: 'Phuvah' in Genesis 46:13, 'Pua' in Numbers 26:23 (though the Hebrew is the same), and 'Puah' in 1 Chronicles 7:1. These variations represent different transliterations of the same Hebrew name.
