One Meraioth appears in the high priestly genealogy: 'Azariah begat Meraioth, and Meraioth begat Amariah' (1 Chronicles 6:6-7; Ezra 7:3). Another headed a priestly family under Joiakim (Nehemiah 12:15). The name was common among priests.
