יְשִׁישַׁי/jeh-SHISH-ay/
“Aged, or born of an old man”
Summary
A Gadite chief who was an ancestor of Abihail and is listed in the genealogical records of the tribe of Gad dwelling in Gilead and Bashan.
☩Identity and Genealogy
Jeshishai was the son of Jahdo and father of Michael, in the ancestry of Abihail, a chief of the tribe of Gad who dwelt in Bashan (1 Chronicles 5:14). His name means 'aged' or 'grayish,' perhaps indicating he was born to an elderly father. The genealogies were recorded during the reign of Jotham of Judah (1 Chronicles 5:17), though the families themselves were reckoned from much earlier periods.
