Identity

Janna (also written Jannai in the Revised Version) appears in Luke's genealogy of Jesus as an ancestor in the line through Mary. He is listed as the father of Melchi and son of Joseph, positioned approximately five generations before Joseph the husband of Mary. He lived around 200 BC according to chronological calculations. No other information about him survives in Scripture or tradition.
