Hillel
הִלֵּל/HIL-el/
“Praising”
☩Biblical Reference
Hillel is mentioned only as the father of Abdon, who judged Israel for eight years. He was a native of Pirathon in the hill country of Ephraim. The name Hillel, meaning 'praising,' was later borne by the famous rabbi Hillel the Elder, who lived during the time of Herod, though there is no connection between these two individuals.
